Our City Excursion

Yesterday, the sixteenth of June 2008, we went on an excursion to Melbourne city. It seemed to take a ling time to get to the city on the bus. When we got to the city we could already see the MCG. When we got off the bus we walked over to the ledge, we looked down and we saw a playground. Then we walked down lots of stairs to get to the playground.

When we left the playground we walked up past Federation Square and up to the Rialto. When we walked into the Rialto, we saw a hallway called, Rialtovision. We walked through the hallway to a mini cinema. The show was all about Melbourne city. When the show finished we went up to the observation deck. We stayed up there for a long time. When we came back down, we went somewhere to eat our lunch.

After everybody had finished their lunch we walked up to McDonalds and had an ice-cream. After that we walked back to the bus past Crown Entertainment Complex and Southbank.

Our Belonging Bags

In 3/4 we have paper bags that we use to put special notes in.

We created these because the School Value we are learning about is BELONGING!

We had to write our names on the bag and we decorated them.

We then had to draw a name out of the box and wrote a nice message to that person.

Our message had to be full of 'warm fuzzies' so that people in our class felt like they belonged.

We weren't allowed to write 'hot mushies' or 'cold pricklies' because it could hurt their feelings or make someone embarassed.

The rule is that we are only allowed to check our belonging bags on Fridays - which is today!! Hooray!!!

The Escape to Lava Mountain

Julia completed a Spelling Matrix task this week that required her to create a story that included 4 words: Christmas, cat, lava and frog...Here it is...

Once upon a time there were four kids. They were Julia, Nyssa, Taegan and Sarah. They were all going on a holiday to Paris but it did not turn out that well.
They were on a plane ready for take off. They were flying over the pacific ocean when the plane began to bump. It kept on bumping.
Finally, Taegan said, "I am sick of this...I am going to find out what this bumpy ride is caused by, here and now!"
Nyssa said, "Taegan, CUT IT OUT!"
They then had a crash landing on an island they had never heard of. They got off the plane and Nyssa and Julia said together: "WOW!"
Then they saw a volcano. The ground was shaking!
Sarah screamed, "AAAAHHH - help! It's an earthquake!"
"No it isn't it's a volcanic eruption," Taegan said.
"This does not look like Paris one bit!" yelled Julia.
They all pushed and shoved to see the map to try and find a hotel. They found one called the Creepy Crawly Hotel.
They all screamed "eeewww!"
"I hate bugs!" Taegan screamed. "I'm getting out of here. I think i'm going to be sick!"
There were bugs everywhere! Just then the ground shook again. They all looked out the window and lava was pouring down the volano.
"HELP!" yelled Nyssa.
Then, a piece of paper flew in the window.
It said: The only way to stop the volcanic eruption is to get inside the volcano, get away from the lava and float down the river of terrors, then you will find a red button. Press it and the flow will stop.

"Oh my, this is like Christmas but all you get is lava!" Julia said.
Nyssa looked at the clouds... "Hey, those clouds look like frogs and the other one looks like a cat!" she said.
All of a sudden lava came through the window and they were buried....

The Fairytale News
"Hello everyone and welcome to fairytale news. Tonight on the show we will be interviewing Grumpy to tell us about why the queen is the way she is. Oh look! Here he comes...Hi Grumpy and thanks for coming."

"Yeah, you're lucky i remembered...I was in the middle of a fight with silly old Sneezy the dwarf.
So why am I here anyway?"

"Remember you said you would tell us about the queen?"

"Oh yeah...well, once upon a time, she was really ugly...and her brother made her pretty...but Snow White is prettier. That is all i have to say - so goodbye."

"So there you have it folks, I am Miss Piggy, Good night!"

The Final Weeks of Term 2

Not long now until we are moving over to the junior campus!
We have begun the huge task of pulling down our wonderful work and packing boxes...what an exciting few weeks we have ahead of us in the lead up to this big event!
Monday 16th June is our City Excursion day.
Wednesday 25th we are off to Science Works.
Thursday 26th we have an exciting day of tabloid activities.
And, of course, Friday the 27th is our last day of Term 2!
